These are the steps that would be followed IF Porterfield votes to move in that direction.

  • WCA President Jay Therrell Responds to UMC Judicial Council Ruling re: 2548.2

    On August 23, 2022, the Judicial Council of The United Methodist Church struck down the use of paragraph 2548.2 as a means for churches to depart The UMC in our present denominational issues. The Rev. Jay Therrell, president of the Wesleyan Covenant Association, and ordained Global Methodist pastor, shares a few points regarding this development and some words of encouragement.   • Personal Observations of the Crisis in the United Methodist Church

    Dr. Karl K. Stegall served for 40 years within the Alabama - West Florida (AWF) Conference of The United Methodist Church, retiring in 2007.


    He served churches in Andalusia, AL; Bonifay, FL;  and Montgomery AL. He was the District Superintendent of the Troy District. On November 15, 1983, Karl was appointed senior minister of the First United Methodist Church of Montgomery where he remained for 23 ½ years.

  • Thoughts on Remaining in the United Methodist Church

    in 2022 to 2024

    1. The Book of Discipline has remained consistent regarding human sexuality for decades. General Conference is the only place where the laws of our church can be voted on and changed. Nothing in the Discipline can change until January 1, 2025, when any actions of the 2024 General Conference take effect. While social media has increased the volume of news stories about disobedience or controversy in our denomination, the church's rules and stance on human sexuality have not changed.
