Discipleship and spiritual growth are essential to living as a follower of Christ. Porterfield provides numerous opportunities for a person to grow, all of these ministries are open for anyone to become apart of. For more information about any of these programs email:


    In-depth Bible study meets Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.-12 p.m., and Sundays from 4-6 p.m. from September until May. These studies usually include DVDs, discussion, and weekly study guides. Entrusted, a study of 2 Timothy by Beth Moore, starts Wednesday, January 18, at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday, January 22, at 4 p.m. in the Parlor. Join us for six weeks of studying Paul’s instructions to Timothy as his son in the faith. This study is led by Rev. Jennifer Sherling. Other formation events are announced as scheduled throughout the year.

  • Connect groups

    You don't have to be a member of the church to join one of Porterfield's small's "the church within the church." Our Small Groups are groups with similar ages or family structures meeting together for interactive Bible study, fellowship, encouragement, prayer. This is where real, life-enriching relationships can form and develop. You are not "assigned" to a group, but are free to visit as many groups as you like to find a good fit. New groups form regularly, and 4-6 week topical groups are offered often to meet the needs of anyone seeking to deepen their spiritual roots. Email Nate if you are interested:

  • Fellowship and Growth Night

    Wednesday nights provide an excellent opportunity to learn and fellowship with the body of Christ. Offering, Bible based studies, topical studies, as well as guest speakers Fellowship and Growth night is a time to refill your cup during a long week. 


    An intercessory prayer group meets every Wednesday from 4-5:30 p.m in the Parlor. This is open to anyone interested in praying for the concerns in the church and writing prayergrams to individuals and families to let them know their church cares and prayers are being lifted in their behalf.


    The United Methodist Men are a core group of men partnering with our pastors to invite and initiate spiritual growth opportunities for all men of our church and community. The focus is not inward, but outward to all men, assisting them in engaging the process of spiritual growth.


    The United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Meetings at Porterfield are held from September through May with a general luncheon meeting every second Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall. UMW Circles are smaller group meetings held at specific times each month.

  • XYZ Senior Adult Fellowship

    Join us monthly on the first Tuesday for XYZ - a luncheon for our senior adults. No reservation is required.
