adult Growth ministries

Discipleship and spiritual growth are essential to living as a follower of Christ. Porterfield provides numerous opportunities for a person to grow, all of these ministries are open for anyone to become apart of. For more information about any of these programs email:

In-depth Bible study meets Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.-12 p.m., and Sundays from 4-6 p.m. from September until May. These studies usually include DVDs, discussion, and weekly study guides. Other formation events are announced as scheduled throughout the year.

An intercessory prayer group meets every Wednesday from 4-5:30 p.m in the Parlor. This is open to anyone interested in praying for the concerns in the church and writing prayergrams to individuals and families to let them know their church cares and prayers are being lifted in their behalf.

The United Methodist Men are a core group of men partnering with our pastors to invite and initiate spiritual growth opportunities for all men of our church and community. The focus is not inward, but outward to all men, assisting them in engaging the process of spiritual growth.

The United Methodist Women is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Meetings at Porterfield are held from September through May with a general luncheon meeting every second Tuesday at 11:45 a.m. in the fellowship hall. UMW Circles are smaller group meetings held at specific times each month.
