  • robert greene

    Senior pastor

    Robert is originally from Macon, Ga., where he graduated from Central High School. He earned a BBA from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and after graduation went to work in the marketing department of Norfolk Southern Corporation in Roanoke, Va. After four years in the corporate world, Robert clearly sensed the Lord calling him into ministry and entered Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Shortly after making the decision to attend seminary, Robert met the former Kate Booth of Athens, Ga., at a Bible study in Atlanta. They married in 2002 and have joyfully served in The United Methodist Church since that time. Robert and Kate have three children: William (9 years old), Lauren (age 7), and Caroline, 3. A lifelong Methodist, Robert has served multiple appointments in the South Georgia Conference including Vineville UMC (Associate), the Whigham/Springhill Charge, and Vidalia First. Additionally, for the last six years, Rev. Greene has engaged in ministry as a chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserve.

  • nATE LEHMAN

    aSSOCIATE PASTOR

    Nate is a military brat that calls Valdosta his home. He graduated from Valdosta State University with a B.S. in Psychology and received his Masters In Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. Nate is married to Erica, who is a teacher, and has two children, a daughter Talyn and a son Waylon. Nate has served in the ministry of the United Methodist Church for more than eight years and has also had many years of experience as a youth director. His heart is in family discipleship and connecting people to the body of Christ.

    William joined the staff of PMUMC in September 2009. William is a graduate of Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. William has served as a minister of music and associate minister in Baptist and Methodist churches for 28 years. A native of Savannah, GA, William is married to Donna W. Collins, also of Savannah. Donna is an employee of the Thomas County Board of Education. They have three children: Marie, Will and his wife,Ginger.

    Wesley is an Albany native. He graduated from Albany High School and went to college at Georgia Southwestern State University. He is married to Christy and has four children.

    Lisa Burton is a graduate of Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama, and has a journalism degree from the University of Alabama. She and her husband have an 8-year-old daughter.

    Cindy was born in Camilla, Georgia, but moved to Albany when she was just 6 years old. She is married to Leonard W. Thomas, and she has two daughters. Cindy has been a member of Porterfield UMC for 10 years, and has been a part of the Staff since October, 1999. Cindy is the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Children Ministries, the Director of Christian Education and the Director of Youth Ministries.

    Jane Bragg grew up in Albany, graduating from Albany High School and then from Albany Junior College with an AA degree in Accounting and Business Management. She worked in the golf industry for 36 years, starting at MacGregor Golf in Albany and retiring from Nicklaus Golf in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 2011. Jane has two sons and three grandchildren.

  • LESLIE DEVANE

    ADMIN ASSISTANT


    Leslie DeVane joined Porterfield as the Administrative Assistant to the Music, Youth, and Education ministries. Leslie grew up in Albany and graduated from Deerfield-Windsor in 1992. She lived and worked in Panama City, Fla., for nine years and recently moved back home to Albany. She worked for a steamship line at the Port of Panama City. Leslie has a 5-year-old son, Tinley.

  • joN DURKOVIC

    ORGANIST


    Jon earned his B.A. in Church Music, Organ Performance, from Asbury College in 1983. He earned his Master in Music (Organ and Choral Conducting) from the University of Alabama in 1991. He is an adjunct music professor at Andrew College. He is a Certified Diaconal Director of Music in the South Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Jon has served churches as pianist, organist and Director of Music since 1970. He has served at Porterfield as organist and Director of Handbells since July 2003. Jon is married to Nelda and has two children, Cara and Evan, and two grandsons, Ty and Griffin. He lives in Fitzgerald, Georgia.

  • MARCY MCCARTY

    MUSIC MINISTRY

    Marcy has lived in Albany since 1987. She studied music at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington, from 1972-1976. After 20+ years, she returned to college and graduated from Albany State University in May 2004 with her BA in Applied Music (Voice). She became a member of Porterfield UMC in 1988 and was engaged as a part-time music associate in 1995. She plays the piano for the traditional worship services and directs the Women Ensemble. She sings in the Chancel Choir and serves as an occasional soloist for worship, funerals and weddings. She is also a private voice instructor and teaches several students each week. Marcy is married to Eddie S. McCarty and they have two dogs: Lucy and Sasha.

  • SELiNA BENTLEY

    MUSIC MINISTRY

    Selina grew up in Southwest Georgia. Born in Thomasville, her family moved to Albany when she was six. A graduate of Dougherty High School, she received her B.A. in Music Education from Charleston Southern University and a masters in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia. For the past 33 years she has been a high school Choral Director, just recently retiring from the Dougherty County School System. Selina is married to Alton Bentley and has two step children, Brooks and Curry and one wonderful grandchild – Pierce.
