  • robert greene

    Senior pastor

    Robert is originally from Macon, Ga., where he graduated from Central High School. He earned a BBA from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and after graduation went to work in the marketing department of Norfolk Southern Corporation in Roanoke, Va. After four years in the corporate world, Robert clearly sensed the Lord calling him into ministry and entered Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Shortly after making the decision to attend seminary, Robert met the former Kate Booth of Athens, Ga., at a Bible study in Atlanta. They married in 2002 and have joyfully served in The United Methodist Church since that time. Robert and Kate have three children: William, Lauren, and Caroline.   A lifelong Methodist, Robert has served multiple appointments in the South Georgia Conference including Vineville UMC (Associate), the Whigham/Springhill Charge, and Vidalia First. Additionally, for the last six years, Rev. Greene has engaged in ministry as a chaplain in the United States Air Force Reserve.

  • chris pavlovsky

    Associate Pastor

    Chris joined the Porterfield team in July of 2018. He and his family from Dallas, Georgia. He and his wife, Dorothy, have three daughters - Leila, Ella, and Linley.


    Chris started his ministry path in youth ministry, where he spent 10 years. For the past 10 years, he has served as an appointed associate pastor. He was raised in in Ellijay, Ga.and attended Reinhardt University. He finished his bachelor’s degree at Point University, formerly Atlanta Christian

    College, and is currently working on an Master of Divinity.


    Chris loves sports and games and is a huge Atlanta United and Falcons fan. He and his family love to camp. 


    His favorite verse is James 1:17 - Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. Chris says that it reminds him that “much of the material items we value in life will be gone before we know it, that God has a bigger plan, and that He sticks with it.”

  • dr. paul Luthman

    minister of congregational care

    Paul was raised in New Jersey as a pastor’s son.  After graduating from Rutgers University he spent three years in the Army and two years with Aetna Life & Casualty before listening to the Spirit’s call to attend Princeton Seminary.  Ordained in the Presbyterian Church, he began his ministry here in Southwest Georgia (associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church, Columbus for four years) Later, he spent six years in Virginia and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree at Union Seminary while there. Paul was called to be the Senior Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Albany in 1988. In 2002 Paul became Executive Presbyter for Flint River Presbytery, a position he held for 13 years before retirement.  He then served as part-time EP for Florida Presbytery for another two and a half years, before “retiring” again.

    He is a half-time member of the Porterfield staff as Minister of Congregational Care, normally working on Sunday, Monday and Wednesday.


    Paul is married to Karen (who was a member of Porterfield for 27 years before Paul stole her away). She is an independent AFLAC Agent/Broker.  They have three grown children: Burke, Dixon and Olivia. Paul grew up in a joint Presbyterian/Methodist church, so in many ways he has now returned to his roots.

  • Michael keeley

    Director of music ministries

    Having served Porterfield from 1997-2004, Mike rejoined the staff in January of 2018. He is a graduate of Ithaca (NY) College, and the University of Tennessee with degrees in Music Education and Trumpet Performance. Mike has served United Methodist churches for over 26 years. Most recently, Mike served as Director of Music and Communications at First United Methodist Church of Dothan, Alabama. He previously served churches in Brentwood, TN and Burke, VA. Mike had a career in military music, serving in the Quantico (VA) Band of the U.S. Marine Corps as well as the U.S. Navy Band in Washington, DC. He is married to Shelley, a music educator and they have two children, Jordie and Tyler.

  • lee pilcher

    Contemporary Worship Leader

    Lee grew up in the small town of Ellaville, Ga. He began playing guitar at age 12 and quickly became an asset on the worship team where his father led contemporary style worship. Upon graduation from Schley County High School, Lee graduated with honors from the Atlanta Institute of Music and proceeded to attend the University of Georgia. He’s taught lessons to various age groups since he was 16 and finds great fulfillment in sharing his God-given gifts with others. He is married to Katie Pilcher from Lee County. They have one baby boy named Ransom.

    Wesley is an Albany native. He graduated from Albany High School and went to college at Georgia Southwestern State University. He is married to Christy and has four children.

  • caren dilts

    Director of children's ministries

    Caren grew up here at Porterfield and has very fond memories from children and youth activities. She graduated from Albany High School and the University of Georgia. The UGA Wesley Foundation was an integral part of her college experience and she went on to work there after graduation for 8 years. After a year of working for the American Cancer Society in Athens, Caren felt called back to college ministry and moved to Dallas, TX. She served at the SMU Wesley Foundation for four years.

    Caren has enjoyed serving the children and families of Porterfield. She has a heart for children to understand the incredible love of Jesus Christ, to get to know His Word and hopefully enter into personal relationship with Him. Caren also hopes to help equip parents with tools to disciple their children in their homes.

    She hopes to help equip our children to have a solid foundation in Jesus. A faith that is so transformational that they don’t abandon it in college, but continue to grow in Christlikeness!

    Lisa is a graduate of Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama, and has a journalism degree from the University of Alabama. She and her husband have a 9-year-old daughter.

    Cindy was born in Camilla, Georgia, but moved to Albany when she was just 6 years old. She is married to Leonard W. Thomas, and she has two daughters. Cindy has been a member of Porterfield UMC for 10 years, and has been a part of the Staff since October, 1999. Cindy is the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Children Ministries, the Director of Christian Education and the Director of Youth Ministries.

    Jane grew up in Albany, graduating from Albany High School and then from Albany Junior College with an AA degree in Accounting and Business Management. She worked in the golf industry for 36 years, starting at MacGregor Golf in Albany and retiring from Nicklaus Golf in West Palm Beach, Florida, in 2011. Jane has two sons and three grandchildren.

    Leslie joined Porterfield as the Administrative Assistant to the Music, Youth, and Education ministries. Leslie grew up in Albany and graduated from Deerfield-Windsor in 1992. She lived and worked in Panama City, Fla., for nine years and recently moved back home to Albany. She worked for a steamship line at the Port of Panama City. Leslie has a 6-year-old son, Tinley.

    Donna was raised in Houston, Texas. She moved to Georgia in 1981. She joined the Porterfield staff in March 2014. She has 3 children and 4 grandchildren.

    Catherine was born in Leesburg, and is a graduate of Albany High School. She joined the Porterfield Staff in January 2011. She is married to Leroy and has one daughter, two sons, and four grandchildren.

    Jon earned his B.A. in Church Music, Organ Performance, from Asbury College in 1983. He earned his Master in Music (Organ and Choral Conducting) from the University of Alabama in 1991. He is an adjunct music professor at Andrew College. He is a Certified Diaconal Director of Music in the South Georgia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Jon has served churches as pianist, organist and Director of Music since 1970. He has served at Porterfield as organist and Director of Handbells since July 2003.  He lives in Fitzgerald, Georgia.


    MUSIC MINISTRY assistant

    Marcy has lived in Albany since 1987. She studied music at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington, from 1972-1976. After 20+ years, she returned to college and graduated from Albany State University in May 2004 with her BA in Applied Music (Voice). She became a member of Porterfield UMC in 1988 and was engaged as a part-time music associate in 1995. She plays the piano for the traditional worship services and directs the Women Ensemble. She sings in the Chancel Choir and serves as an occasional soloist for worship, funerals and weddings. She is also a private voice instructor and teaches several students each week. Marcy is married to Eddie S. McCarty and they have two dogs: Lucy and Sasha.



    Director of children's MUSIC

    Selina grew up in Southwest Georgia. Born in Thomasville, her family moved to Albany when she was six. A graduate of Dougherty High School, she received her B.A. in Music Education from Charleston Southern University and a masters in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia. For the past 33 years she has been a high school Choral Director, just recently retiring from the Dougherty County School System. Selina is married to Alton Bentley and has two step children, Brooks and Curry and one wonderful grandchild – Pierce.
